Have you ever wondered how some people get employed? How some software gets developed? How issues get through Testing? Who thought an idea was a good one?!
Well, that was me a moment ago seriously questioning the competence at Microsoft, again!
I was in the Printers & scanners dialog and accidentally pressed the Remove device button. Oooops!
Luckily for me, Windows offers a confirmation dialog. Right!
Where’s the ‘No‘ or ‘Cancel‘ option exactly??? You’re not imagining things, the only option available is ‘Yes‘, to confirm removing the device.
How exactly does one create a dialog asking a question to the user, but only have one option?! What exactly is the point of the dialog if there is no actual choice that can be made!
How does that happen in the first place, but more importantly, how does that not get caught by internal testing! Either this proves that MS isn’t doing testing (which many have stated) or a lot of people are asleep on the job.
Just some more brilliant UI design out of Redmond. Another great teaching example for students learning development as to what NOT to do.
And for anyone wondering, my Windows installation is up-to-date.
