Yep, another bug with the Modern Web Browser control.

Worse, this issue occurs when simply trying to navigate to a URL via VBA using the form’s current event. At the opening of a form, navigation is simply completely unreliable and more often than not renders a blank page! Sometimes it works, but most of the time it does not! When navigating the records, the event works just fine, this bug is limited to the initial opening/loading of the form/report control. So in most instances, the user ends up with a blank Modern Web Browser control when they should be seeing content.

Below is a simple screen capture of me merely launching the same form multiple times and it rendering properly in one instance only!

Based on brief testing, it only seems to render properly right the 1st time upon opening the database or after performing a Compact and Repair. After that, it never seems to render again until a C&R is performed again, or the database is closed and reopened!

It should be noted that I am demonstrating the On Current event version of this issue as it is the easiest and most reproducible, but the same issue occurs with other events such as the Load event!  So this timing issue is more widespread than just affecting the On Current event.

Modern Web Browser Control Dynamic Control Source Not Displaying

In one of my YouTube videos I’ve demonstrated a reliably reproducible bug with the Modern Web Browser Control (MWBC) in which if you try to use a form’s Open event to dynamically set the MWBC’s Control Source, it is completely unreliable and most times it will not render anything. Typically, the control will render the 1st time it is opened and every subsequent call it will simply give a blank form. The only way to make it work is to perform a C&R, and even that doesn’t always correct the issue.
