What a mess Microsoft’s Update Channel have made the Office Ecosystem!
I mean, really!
I avoid being on the cutting edge for a reason, because Microsoft’s updates are simply garbage. They typically cause more problems than they solve and as such I use the Monthly Enterprise Channel, or even slower.
That all being said, because of some work for a client, I needed to switch to the Monthly channel to get some of the recent new features. The problem being I can’t get office to update!
I made the switch in the admin account to the Current Channel hours ago
Yet Office remains set on the Monthly Enterprise Channel
and simply will not update
I’ve rebooted, logged out of my account and back in, using the command prompt to force the channel change & update, tried a registry manipulation that I found on a Microsoft page. Nothing works.
This is seriously the best Microsoft could come up with. No interface, no button ‘Synch Account’/’Refresh Account Information’. I imagine this has to do with caching of sorts, but once again, how many hours of productivity is one supposed to loose for this type of crap.
So to answer the obvious question here:
How To Force Update Channel Changes To Take Effect?
I have no clue!
Update 2023-05-29 :: It took nearly 24hrs and then suddenly things updated themselves and worked. There is no way, as a developer, supporting a variety of clientele that this will work, changing configuration to match a client and needing to wait a day to be able to do anything at all.

Did you try stopping and re-starting some of the Office-related services in the Microsoft Management Console, or use the Office Deployment Tool?
I tried a whole bunch of different things.
