I’ve been experimenting with AI lately to see how useful it really is for everyday tasks. So far, my verdict is VERY mixed, sometimes it’s genuinely helpful, other times not so much and you waste more time fighting with it than actually getting proper information.
But that’s not the main point here. Instead, I want to share a clear warning: never let children use AI tools unsupervised.
Here’s why:
I recently asked an AI to recommend 4–5 good screenshot and screen recording programs, hoping to discover alternatives to the one I currently use. At first, the list it gave me looked reasonable with some familiar names. But when I clicked one of the links it provided, I was suddenly redirected to a pornographic broadcasting site. I immediately backed out, of course, but it was a pretty unexpected experience.
What made it worse is that when I reported the issue back to the AI, it doubled down and insisted that the program was legitimate software which was absolutely false.
So, my takeaway is this: AI can be helpful, but it also makes mistakes, sometimes in very unexpected (and potentially harmful) ways. Please be cautious, and don’t ever leave children unsupervised when using AI tools.
