Blocking SPAM from Known Domains in Outlook

As per my previous posting on the subject, for some reason, I have been getting hit recently by SPAM.

and so on…

Now, originally, I would simply click on the Junk e-mail option to Block Sender.  The issue with this is that these SPAMmers never use the same e-mail account twice, so this is completely ineffective.

So by examining the sources of the problem, we can very quickly find a nice pattern,  all the SPAM is comming from .xyz and .eu domains.  Knowing this we can use Outlook’s Blocked Senders to build a simple pattern to block them all!  Here’s how it is done.

On the Home tab on the Ribbon, click on the Junk drop-down

Outlook 2013 - RibbonClick on the Junk E-mail Options…

Outlook 2013 - Ribbon - Junk E-mail Options MenuGoto the Blocked Senders Tab, followed by the Add… button

Outlook 2013 - Junk E-mail Options DialogThen simply add the domain suffix for the domain to block in the provided textbox.

Outlook 2013 - Junk E-mail Options Add address or domain to blocked sender listingFinally simply click OK twice to return back to Outlook.

It’s that easy.  Since having taken this step, I no longer have to deal with any of the garbage sent by these perpetual SPAMmers as their e-mails go directly into my Junk E-mail folder.  Life is good once again!

Important Note:

  • In this example I am blocking outright any e-mail from a .xyz or .eu domain.  That said, you need to carefully examine which domains are SPAMming you and act accordingly by using their suffix.
  • Blocked e-mails are not deleted, but rather moved directly to the Junk E-mail folder.  As such, you should review the content of that folder from time to time to ensure no legitimate e-mails end up in there.
  • At any time you wish, you can go back into the Blocked Senders Tab of the Junk E-mail Options… dialog and highlight an entry and simply delete it by clicking on the Remove button.  So nothing is permanent and you can undo this process at any time.

didn’t work. Just received an xyz spam after adding entire .xyz as described.
I’ll try a restart, but thinking it won’t work.

Please do try again as this works fine for me and transfers all the .xyz and .eu email into my Junk E-mail folder.

If for some reason (which wouldn’t make sense) it truly doesn’t work, you could always create a rule to do the same thing.

Hey there, I know this post is from last year and updates may prevent this now, but I figured I’d give it a shot. In this particular example you blocked .xyz, which is exactly what I need to do. However, the outlook page that adds “blocking” only allows the full domain, (which is different every time) not the domain suffix. As only the .xyz remains the same, this is unhelpful. Do you know a way around this? Thanks!

I do not have any such issues?

      I go Home (ribbon tab) -> Junk (drop-down arrow) -> Junk E-mail Options… -> Blocked Senders (tab) -> Add
simply type .xyz (or whatever value you wish) and click OK.

      That’s it.

I’m good at getting .XYZ to go directly to the junk file. But they are filling up my junk file. I would blow up my computer b/4 using .XYZ. I take the time to block e-mails in junk e-mail and report as phishing porn sights. They all go away but they all come back. A quick glance at replies to your site indicates you’re not doing much better than me. I hope I’m wrong. Please reply.

Its easy to get .xyz to the junk folder. But its no fun sifting thru hundreds of .xyz in junk. Is there no way to stop them completely. I also do well with limiting interest oriented advertising. But those companies seem to have better ethics than .XYZ

Instead of blocking them through Outlook or whatever your e-mail client may be, but instead look to completely block them through your domain tools. You should be able to blacklist them directly there and thus block all incoming messages.

Hi, I too am being plagued right now but when I went to check the domains so I could block them , I notice that the suffixes have become .com instead of .eu or . Xyz
Also they seem to have different domains each time . Have the spammers got wise to your clever method and worked away around it ?
    Is there another way ?
    Thanks

Nothing new sadly. They rotate domains and domain suffixes continuously!!! It is a never ending fight and won’t be going away anytime soon since they rarely face any penalties. Using blacklist and tools like Spam Assassin (and others) can help.

I don’t care about sending .xyz to JUNK folder, I want them gone forever ! I want .xyz to go out of business !
