A decade or so ago, every IT guy was on local systems.  Then came the cloud which was an old approach to computing dating back to at least the 80’s (shhh no one wants you to know that) and it was hyped as the best thing since sliced bread.  It was going to revolutionize IT, drive down costs, improve… So, of course, business decision makers jumped on the hype word of the week and corporation after corporation made the expensive switch over to ‘The Cloud’.

That said, I’ve seen people giving erroneous information and advice on the issue and thought I’d quickly give the proper information on the subject!

The most important advice I can give is don’t take advice in Access forums related to such an issue and be sure the person you do take advice from is an IT Admin who has actually addressed the issue. They may be a good Access developer, but that doesn’t mean they know anything about IT operations and specifically this CrowdStrike bug!

Furthermore, I’d recommend turning towards the source of the problem for instructions on remedying the issue, so CrowdStrike in this instance.  Makes sense no! So, below are 2 CrowdStrike sources of information on the matter:

CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This was not a cyberattack.

The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.

Basically, don’t listen to just anyone, please!  Rolling back OS, for instance, has nothing to do with this current issue and is a waste of time.  Goto the source, refer to what CrowdStrike itself recommends or IT Admins experienced in the matter tell you to do.
