How a File Download Took Down OneDrive (and Why Microsoft Allows It)

This is one of those IT problems that makes you question your sanity.

Everything looks normal except nothing works.

It started with something completely ordinary. A client downloaded email attachments from Gmail. No strange software. No warnings. No errors. Just files saved into a folder that happened to be synced with OneDrive.

A few minutes later their corporate cloud data was unreachable.

What I later found out is they had been in this position unable to access all their data for well over a week!

The typical troubleshooting, rebooting, … all did nothing to resolve OneDrive didn’t appear to be functional, data was not being synced.

Problem with Windows 11 Update KB5063878

Many IT professionals are raising alarms about the latest Windows 11 update, KB5063878, which is reportedly causing serious storage problems.

Users have reported that after installing the update, hard drives and SSDs are vanishing from the system, losing their formatting, and in some cases all stored data disappears.

Multiple tech outlets and user reports highlight:

  • Drives suddenly disappearing after the update
  • File system corruption leading to inaccessible data
  • Increased risk for SSD users in particular

Windows 10 – No, Don’t Remove My Printer?

Have you ever wondered how some people get employed? How some software gets developed? How issues get through Testing? Who thought an idea was a good one?!

Well, that was me a moment ago seriously questioning the competence at Microsoft, again!

I was in the Printers & scanners dialog and accidentally pressed the Remove device button. Oooops!

Luckily for me, Windows offers a confirmation dialog. Right!

Windows 11 Update Breaks WiFi!

Microsoft has an early Christmas present for us all! 🙂

Another round of updates, another round of bugs, but this time it’s a doozy.

Just a quick heads up to block, and/or rollback, Windows 11 update KB5033375 as it is being massively reported as breaking WiFi connectivity!  Some also report KB50532288 as being equally responsible.

Some reports indicates that the issue is only hitting educational and enterprise licenses, but leaving home users’ systems intact.
