MS Access Genealogy Database

I have seen numerous questions in forums over the years about Genealogy Databases.  At one point in time, Microsoft had a primitive database template, only available through the British site (scratching my head as to why), but when they move forward to Access 2010 or 2013, the links I had stopped working and you couldn’t locate it through the Office Template search (heck Access doesn’t even show up in the list anymore! – another brilliant improvement brought to you by the people at Microsoft!)

Recently, the question came up again and Jeff Conrad was kind enough to supply us with a direct link:

… you can find the CAB file here on the Office site:

http://clienttemplates.content.office.net/support/templates/en-gb/tp01076524.cab

You’ll just need to open the CAB file and copy the MDB out onto your desktop or other folder to use.

Note, this is a very old MDB template. I have no idea what kind of shape it is in.

Who knows for how long this link will work, but I thought it might help a few people out while it does!

We’re just lucky to still have a few people, like Jeff, to help us out in this manner.  Thank you Jeff.

Thank you, that took awhile to find, but exactly what I was looking for and matches with the Access version I have. Thanks again.

Thank you very much! Struggled with dll and objects not registered but now can continue with the assurance it will keep on working for awhile in the future!

Great, exactly what the doctor prescribed. Just a question (since I’m about to switch my database from MS Excel): Is there a way to include some basic sanity checks (e.g. birth date versus death date, marriage date versus death date, birth dates parents versus birth date child)?

    Best regards,
    Bernd D. Rusbueldt

Is the GetTreeView supposed to produce the “classic” family tree? It only ever displays 1 name on the sample data. Am I missing something? Thanks
